Frederick, Md (KM) A Frederick man has been convicted of raping a 14-year-old girl. The State’s Attorney’s Office says William Alexander Reyes-Reyes, 28, was found guilty Thursday by a Circuit Court jury of 2nd-degree rape, 3rd-degree sex offense and 2nd-degree assault.

Circuit Court Judge Theresa Adams requested the Court’s assignment office determine a sentencing date.

Prosecutors say the rape occurred on  October 10th,  2019 in a wooded area behind the Elmwood Terrace Apartments. Reyes-Reyes and the victim were with a group of friends during the evening hours when she left the group to go home.  .  Reyes-Reyes insisted on walking her home,

Once they were away from the group, Reyes-Reyes told the victim he was lost and told her to sit down while he grained his bearing.   When she sat down, he raped her, prosecutors say.

The victim told her mother about the rape, and police were contacted.

“This young teenage girl was attacked and sexually assaulted by a grown man,” says State’s Attorney Charlie Smith, in a statement. “The jury’s swift verdict in this case indicates they recognized the overwhelming evidence and witness testimony. We look forward to sentencing and making sure he never poses a threat to another child.”
