He made off with a $22,000 watch.
Frederick, Md – One man was arrested and another man is being sought by authorities following a robbery at Walden Jewelers on Sunday.
The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office said a watch valued at $22,000 was stolen. Captain Jeff Eyler said Francisco Drew Vaughn, 18, Temple Hills, Maryland, and another suspect stole the watch by breaking a glass case.
The store is located at the Francis Scott Key Mall and the incident happened at approximately 1:10 p.m.
Vaughn was apprehended by mall security and a citizen, and detained until authorities arrived.
The second suspect was able to escape. He is described as a Black man wearing a black Hilfiger jacket and light colored jeans. He reportedly drove away in a black older model Audi.
“That’s a pretty brazen crime in the middle of a Sunday afternoon around Christmas time,” said Eyler. “The suspect that was apprehended is being held at our detention center now on a slew of charges including robbery and theft charges,” Eyler said.
Damage to a jewelry case is estimated at $2,000.
In a release, Frederick County Sheriff Chuck Jenkins said his agency has increased its patrols and presence around the malls, shopping centers, and local businesses.
