COVID Booster Shots Available For Maryland Children 12-15

The Frederick County Health Department will begin administering the shots on Wednesday.

Frederick, Md (KM) Children between the ages of 12 to 15 are eligible for COVID-19 booster shots. Governor Larry Hogan made that announcement on Tuesday. . It follows action taken by the US Food and Drug Administration which gave its approval this week.

The Frederick County Health Department says its vaccination clinics will be begin offering boosters to kids in that age group starting on Wednesday, January 5th.

Boosters are available at all vaccination  clinics, the Department says. But it’s best to call ahead for an appointment. Walk-ins will be taken as the supply allows. To find where the vaccination clinics are located, go line to vaccines.gov, or marylandvax.org.

Maryland residents 12 and older are eligible for COVID-19 booster shots five months after completing their second dose of the Pfizer vaccine.  Previously, it was six-months after the second dose.

Residents who received the Moderna vaccine still must wait six-months before receiving a booster shot.. Those who received the one-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine can get their boosters two-months after their single dose.
