Gaithersburg MS-13 Gang Member Indicted On Federal Charges

He is charged with numerous offenses including racketeering conspiracy involving murder.

Greenbelt, Md. (NS) – Eight MS-13 gang members, including one Gaithersburg man, have been indicted with racketeering conspiracy involving murder, money laundering, and extortion.

A federal grand jury returned the indictment on December 22.

21-year-old Jorge Isaac Argueta Chica from Gaithersburg is also charged with conspiracy to interfere with commerce by extortion.

The US Attorney’s Office for the District of Maryland said Argueta Chica and the other gang members allegedly extorted money from the community to support their gang, and killed an individual who cooperated with police.

Court documents say MS-13 is primarily composed of immigrants from El Salvador and has a presence in Frederick and Montgomery counties. Members must commit acts of violence in order to maintain membership.
