COVID Statistics Looking Favorable For Maryland

Governor Hogan says the state positivity rate drops below 10%.

Annapolis, Md. (KM) – There’s some good news to report on COVID-19. Governor Larry Hogan says Maryland’s positivity rate dropped from just below 30-percent earlier in January to   9.04%,. a decline of nearly 70%.

“For the second straight day, our positivity rate is in single digits, another sing of the encouraging progress we are making,” Governor Hogan said in a statement. “While we are emerging from the Omicron wave faster than just about any state, we continue to urge Marylanders to take precautions, and most importantly, get a booster shot.”

He also says Maryland’s case rate has declined by 81.9% since peaking early in January, and that’s the lowest case rate in the United States.

Hospitalizations are declining at the fastest rate in the country since peaking at 3.462 in Maryland in early January. The Governor says it’s now 1,716, according to the Governor.  

As of late January, Governor Hogan says 94.6% of  adults in the state have had least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, and more than two-million booster shots have been administered. He says the state has administered more than 11-million vaccinations.
