Jefferson, Md. (KM) – Five adults were displaced following a house fire in Jefferson Wednesday night.

Frederick County Fire and Rescue Services says at around 9:43 PM, fire fighters were dispatched to the 3500 block of Fry Road for a house on fire. Personnel found a two-story farmhouse with heavy fire showing on all sides. A tanker task force and the Rapid Intervention Dispatch were requested.

All occupants got out of the home, but two dogs and a cat were unaccounted for, fire officials say. .

Because the wind caused the fire to spread rapidly, fire fighters from Frederick, Washington and Loudon Counties took a defensive attack, and protected exposures. It took 60 fire fighters several hours to contain the fire. There were no civilian or fire fighter injuries.

The County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating.
