Fire Injures Two Firefighters In New Market

One adult was transported to Bayview Medical Center for minor burns.

New Market, Md (NS) – A house fire in New Market injured two firefighters and another man.

Around 4:15 p.m. on Sunday, the Frederick County Division of Fire and Rescue was dispatched to the 6500 block of Twin Lake Drive for a fire on both floors of a 2-story single family home.

A rapid intervention dispatch was requested and firefighters worked to make sure all the residents were out of the home.

Two adults and two dogs safely exited the building.

It took 50 firefighters an hour to put out the blaze.

One adult was transported to Bayview Medical Center for minor burns.

Two firefighters sustained minor injuries and were transported to a local hospital where they were treated and released.

Damage to the home is estimated at 225-thousand-dollars.

The Red Cross is assisting the family and the Frederick County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the fire.
