The panel returned a total of nine indictments.
Frederick, Md. (KM) – Nine indictments were returned on Friday by the Frederick County Grand Jury.
One was against Dominique Lamarr Lewis, 26, who was charged in February after two Frederick Police Officers were shot along the Golden Mile. The panel has charged Lewis with two counts each of attempted 1st-degree murder, and use of a firearm in the commission of a crime of violence. Grand Jurors also charged Lewis with one count of firearm possession with a previous conviction for a crime of violence.
On Friday, February 11th at 12:45 PM, Officers Bryan Snyder and Kristen Kowalsky were dispatched to the area of Waverly Drive and Key Parkway for a suspicious person with a gun. They found Lewis sitting on an electric utility box with a firearm. State Police, which investigated this incident, say Officers Snyder and Kowalsky asked Lewis to show his hands, but he ignored them.
Lewis then got up, authorities say, and walked away. Then he turned and fired on the officers. They fire back.
Lewis and Officers Snyder and Kowalsky were medivaced to University of Maryland Shock Trauma. The two officers were released later that day.
Also indicted was Christopher Wade Schultz, 40, whose charged with two counts each of kidnapping children under the age of 16 and false imprisonment. He’s also charged with home invasion and 2nd-degree assault.
The Sheriff’s Office says Schultz was arrested on early Saturday morning, February 26th for entering a home in the 8200 block of Reichs Ford Road, and forcibly taking two children. Deputies found Schultz later that morning at a nearby business parking. Deputies learned that Schultz had no rights to the children, who have been reunited with their family.
Other indictments returned by the Grand Jury:
- Robert Antoine Shipley, Jr., of Silver Spring, whose charged with conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute cocaine; possession paraphernalia (razor blades, scales and finger cots) and possession with intent to distribute cocaine, for incidents which happened between March 14th to the 23rd, 2021 This is a superseding indictment.
- Jose Carlos Lopez-Jaimes, 31, of Frederick, whose charged with 3rd-degree child abuse and 2nd-degree assault for an incident which occurred on February 2nd, 2022.
- Marcel Emil Mase, 26, of Frederick, whose charged with two counts of 3rd-degree burglary; one count of 2nd-degree assault; carrying a concealed dangerous weapon; two counts of violating an exparte/protective order; 4th degree burglary; malicious destruction of property less than $500; and resisting and interfering with an arrest for an incident which occurred on February 25th, 2022;
- Norris Russell Hopkins, Jr., 18, of Frederick, whose charged with 1st-degree assault, four counts of 2nd-degree assault and one count of reckless endangerment for an incident which occurred on September 25th, 2021.
- Joseph Michael Claxton, 20, of Frederick, whose charged with 1st-degree assault; conspiracy to commit 1st-degree assault; armed robbery; conspiracy to commit armed robbery; 2nd-degree assault; having a handgun in a vehicle; and having a loaded handgun in a vehicle for an incident which occurred on December 20th, 2021.
- Nyi N. Lwin, 56, of Frederick, whose charged with 2nd-degree child abuse and 2nd-degree assault for an incident which occurred on February 24th, 2022.
- Tiarry Convett Summers, 42, of York, Pa., who charged with sex abuse of a minor for an incident which occurred on February 22nd, 2022.
These indictments move these cases to the Circuit Court where trial dates will be scheduled. The State’s Attorney’s Office says indictments are charging documents alleging criminal conduct, and all defendants are innocent until proven guilty.
