Teenager Charged For Urbana High Incident On Mar. 3rd

One of the charges includes threat of mass violence.

Frederick, Md. (KM) – Charges have been filed against the Urbana High Student who brought a chemical to school earlier this month,   causing a disruption of the school day. The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office says the youth whose being treated as a juvenile has been charged with disrupting school activities and threat of mass violence. His name is not being released.

On Thursday morning, March 3rd, authorities responded to Urbana High following a social media threat and a potentially hazardous material brought into school by a student. The Sheriff’s Office says deputies assisted school administrators in evacuating the building. .The students were sent to nearby Urbana Middle School and on school buses.

HAZMAT personnel from the Division of Fire and Rescue Services  were dispatched, and determined the material brought into school was bleach. Students and staff were allowed back inside the building.

A 14-year-old boy was transported to the Sheriff’s Office for interviews. He told investigators he brought the material to school following a TIk Tok video on how to make mustard gas. He said on social media he was going to do just that at school that day. .

Even though the youth has been charged, the Sheriff’s Office says he may face disciplinary actions by the School System.
