Franklin County, PA Woman Charged In Death Of 6 Day Old Son

The baby died from asphyxia.

Chambersburg, Pa. (NS) – A Franklin County woman has been charged with manslaughter after her 6-day-old baby died from asphyxia.

On May 26, 2021 at 12:55 pm, EMS responded to 1311 Swamp Fox Road for the report of an unresponsive 6-day-old boy.

Lifesaving measures were taken, but the boy was pronounced dead a short time later.

An autopsy revealed that the baby died form positional asphyxia, where airflow is restricted based off of the baby’s body’s position.

Investigators determined that the child’s mother, Destinee Griffin-Bailey negligently contributed the baby’s death.

Griffin-Bailey was charged on Monday with involuntary manslaughter.
