Frederick County Sheriff’s Office Warns Of New TikTok Challenge

Juveniles are shooting splat guns at cars as they drive by.

Frederick, Md. (NS) – The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) is warning drivers about the latest TikTok challenge.

Over the past several weeks, the Sheriff’s Office has received reports of mostly juveniles firing splat guns, which shoot small gel-like projectiles, at vehicles as they drive by.

Many of these instances are happening after kids leave from school.

The Sheriff’s Office says although these projectiles are not deadly, unsuspecting people can be caught off guard and still experience pain, fear, and panic.

“This specific TikTok challenge has the potential to be very dangerous,” said Sheriff Chuck Jenkins, who envisions that someone could mistakingly return fire with a real gun.

He added that these kinds of pranks cannot be tolerated.

Since the start of this school year, FCSO has investigated 50 school threats, several have been related to TikTok challenges, including recent events at Ballenger Creek Middle School.
