Man Who Shot At Frederick County Sheriff Deputy Is One Of 17 Indictments Returned By Grand Jury

Lookman-Khalil Abolajo Bello faces attempted murder and firearms charges.

Frederick, Md. (NS) – Seventeen indictments were returned today by the Frederick County Grand Jury including ones against Lookman-Khalil Abolajo Bello and Jason Paul Havelt.

Bello, 31, who fired at Deputy 1st Class Christian Lucente on March 18, is charged with attempted 1st degree murder; attempted 2nd degree murder; 1st degree assault; 2nd degree assault; firearm use in a felony or violent crime; magazine use 10 rounds or more; firearm possession with prior crime of violence; illegal possession of ammo; fleeing or eluding police; possession with intent to distribute marijuana; possession of Marijuana of 10 grams or more.

Havelt, 43, was arrested on March 17 at his home in the 4300 block of Ijamsville Road after police received tips about animal cruelty in November 2021. He is charged with child porn promotions and distribution; possession of child porn; 7 counts of aggravated animal cruelty; shotgun possession with a felony conviction or crime of violence; shotgun possession with disqualifying crime conviction; 2 counts of rifle possession with felony conviction or crime of violence; 2 counts of rifle possession with disqualifying crime conviction;3 counts of firearm possession with felony conviction or crime of violence; possession of an unregistered shotgun; 2 counts of illegal possession of regulated firearm; illegal possession of ammunition.

  • Robert Kemp, 29, of Mt. Airy, is charged with 3rd degree burglary; 2nd degree assault; 4th degree burglary-dwelling; malicious destruction scheme/value $1,000+; malicious destruction of property/value $1,000+
  • Karl Dailey Jr., 30, of Frederick, is charged with 1st degree assault; 2nd degree assault
  • Brittney Burke, 26, of Frederick, is charged with 2nd degree child abuse-custodian; 2nd degree assault
  • Patrick Zimmerman, 39, of Frederick, is charged with 2nd degree rape; 2nd degree assault; sex offense 4th degree-sex contact
  • Tavon Wiggins, 32, of Sparrows Point, is charged with possession with intent to distribute Fentanyl; possession with intent to distribute Cocaine; conspiracy-possession with intent to distribute Fentanyl; conspiracy-possession with intent to distribute Cocaine; possession of Fentanyl; possession of Cocaine
  • Jeffery Powell Sr., 61, of Columbia, is charged with possession with intent to distribute Fentanyl; possession with intent to distribute Cocaine; conspiracy-possession with intent to distribute Fentanyl; conspiracy-possession with intent to distribute Cocaine; possession of Fentanyl; possession of Cocaine

  • Jahir Fitzgerald, 25, of Hagerstown is charged with 2 counts of armed robbery; 2 counts of robbery; 2 counts of 2nd degree assault; dangerous weapon-intent to injure
  • Jajuan Anderson, 21, of Frederick, is charged with firearm possession with a prior crime of violence; firearm possession with a disqualifying crime; illegal possession of ammo; discharge dangerous weapon within city; retaliate-witness-felony offense
  • William Brodnax, 42, of Jefferson, is charged with 2nd degree rape; 2 counts of sex abuse of a minor; 2 counts of sexual abuse minor-continuing course
  • Joel Sorto, 32, of Frederick, is charged with sexual abuse minor-house/family; sex offense 4th degree -sex contact
  • Mustapha Bukar, 53, of Frederick is charged with child abuse 2nd degree-custodian; 2nd degree assault

These indictments move these cases to the Circuit Court where trial dates will be scheduled. The Frederick County State’s Attorney’s Office says an indictment is a charging document and all defendants are innocent until proven guilty.
