Cumberland Man Sentenced In Frederick County For Incident At A Local Park

The defendant will need to serve seven years in prison.

Frederick, Md. (KM) – Sentence was handed down on Tuesday in Frederick County Circuit Court to a Cumberland man for an incident last year at a park in Frederick. The State’s Attorney’s Office says Cimmeron Dante Bowens, 47, was given ten-years behind bars with all but seven-years suspended. He will be placed on five-years of supervised probation after he’s released, and must register as a Tier II sex offender.

Bowens was arrested in September, 2021, following an incident at Staley Park where witnesses told police they saw a man on top of woman, and believed they were involved in sexual intercourse. Investigators determined the victim had been raped, and Bowens was identified as a suspect.

Bowens pleaded guilty on March 15th, 2022 to 3rd-degree sex offense.
