Traffic Stop Leads To Arrest On Stolen Gun Charges In Frederick

Police found a controlled dangerous substance in the vehicle along with a stolen handgun

Frederick, Md. (DG) – Frederick Police have arrested a man on handgun charges after a traffic stop early Sunday morning.

An officer on patrol at 3:30 AM in the area of Baughmans Lane and West Patrick Street saw a vehicle with improperly illuminated registration plates. A traffic stop was made and a probable cause search of the vehicle was conducted.

During the search, police found a controlled dangerous substance and an extended 30 round magazine. Police saw the rear passenger, Keyon Williams trembling, sweating profusely and exhibiting signs of being armed.

Williams was searched and officers found a stolen handgun reportedly from Philadelphia. He was placed under arrest on handgun charges and taken to the Frederick County Adult Detention Center for processing.
