The US Marshals assisted in the apprehension of Bennie Hampton Jr.
Frederick, Md (NS) – An investigation from a shots fired incident in Frederick has led to an arrest in Gaithersburg.
Frederick Police say Bennie Hampton Jr. was arrested by United States Marshals and Montgomery County Police on June 1 in Gaithersburg on multiple handgun offenses, including reckless endangerment, being in possession of a loaded handgun, and being a felon with a handgun.
According to Police, at around 2:30 p.m. on May 3, 2022, first responders were sent to the 1000 Block of Heather Ridge Drive for the report of a firearm discharge.
Investigators say no one was struck by the gunfire.
While investigating that incident, other 911 calls about a vehicle crash near Taney Avenue and Young Place were received.
Police say evidence was found that linked the two incidents, and Hampton Jr was identified as a suspect.
The investigation is ongoing.
