Juvenile Arrested For Setting Fire To Playground In Montgomery County

Fire caused $75,000 in damages.

Poolesville, Md. (DG) – A juvenile has been arrested and charged with setting a fire that caused $75,000 in damages to a playground in Montgomery County on Sunday.

Officials with Montgomery County Fire and Rescue are reporting the fire at Dr. Dillingham Park destroyed part of a playground.

A child set a paper bag and sandwich container on fire underneath the playground. The flames then ignited rubber mulch and spread to nearby playground equipment.

The playground is located on Fisher Avenue at Milford Mill Road in Poolesville.

The fire was extinguished at around 5:30 PM, and there were no injuries reported.

Authorities arrested the juvenile and eventually released the child to their parents.
