16 year veteran killed trying to apprehend fugitive.
Pittsville, Md. (NS) – A Wicomico County Sheriff’s Deputy was killed trying to apprehend a fugitive on Sunday night.
Officials said Deputy First Class Glenn Hilliard, who is a 16 year veteran with the Sheriff’s Office, attempted to arrest a fugitive who had several felony warrants on Sunday.
The subject was seen leaving an apartment complex in Pittsville and a foot chase began.
Deputy Hilliard was fatally shot during the pursuit.
After an extensive manhunt, the subject was captured and arrested.
Hilliard leaves behind a wife and three children. He was 41 years old.
