Woman Pleads Guilty To 1st-Degree Murder For A 2020 Homicide In Frederick

She’s expected to be sentenced in September.

Frederick, Md. (KM) – A Frederick woman who killed another woman almost two years ago is scheduled to be sentenced later this year. Maria Gloria Vasquez Mebo, 37, pleaded guilty on June 9th to 1st-degree murder for the death of Dolores Perez, 81, also  of Frederick.  Vasquez Mebo could get life in prison with all but 45-years suspended.

On September 13th, 2020, Perez’s body was found at the bottom of the stairs at a home in the 400 block of North Bentz Street. Fire and rescue crews pronounced her dead at the scene. The State Medical Examiner said the cause of death was blunt force trauma to the head.

Frederick Police began an investigation, and took Vasquez Mebo into custody. She admitted to detectives she struck the victim several times with a blunt object, police say.  

Sentencing is scheduled for September 2nd, 2022. .

Vasquez Mebo told police she lived with the victim where she took care of Perez’s husband.
