Former Frederick County Economic Development Director Hired By Hood College

Helen Propheter will begin her new job on August 15th.

Frederick, Md. (KM) – Frederick County’s former Executive Director of Economic Development has been hired by Hood College. Helen Propheter will take over on August 15th as the school’s new Director of Corporate and Government Relations.  She recently retired from the Office of Economic Development.

Hood College says Propheter will work within the College’s Office of Institutional Advancement, and will report directly to the school’s president, Dr. Andrea Chapdelaine. Propheter will develop mission-oriented, revenue-generating initiatives in partnership with government agencies, industry, and other colleges and universities to broaden and deepen resources for and and engagement with the College, says Hood College in a news release.

“I look forward to leading complex project and leveraging relationships to assist Hood College in achieving its mission to prepare students for lives of responsibility, leadership and service,” Propheter says in a statement.

Propheter was the Executive Director of the County’s Office of Economic Development from 2011 to 2022. Prior to that, she served as Deputy Director from 2007 to  2011.
