Dog Rescued In Hagerstown After Being Abandoned In Kennel With No Floor In Dangerous Heat

The dog was in distress and had no water.

Hagerstown, Md. (NS) – Police are looking for a woman who left a dog in a kennel with no floor on a sidewalk in Hagerstown over the weekend when temperatures were near 100 degrees.

On Saturday, officers were sent to the 200 block of West Irvin Avenue after a woman abandoned a dog inside a kennel.

Police said the dog was distressed due to the heat, had no water, and was standing on hot pavement, with no way to protect itself because the kennel had no floor.

The dog was removed and placed in a squad car which had air conditioning before the Washington County Humane Society rescued the animal.

Although the woman who abandoned the dog drove away, investigators used a neighborhood door camera to identify a suspect. Charges are pending.
