MDOT SHA To Begin Intersection Safety Project Along US 340, Valley Rd.

The work is expected to continue until mid-October.

Knoxville, Md (KM) The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration says work will be getting underway next week along US 340 at Valley Road in the Knoxville area of Washington County.

Spokeswoman Shantee Felix says on Monday, August 29th, the contractor, C. William Hetzer of Hagerstown, will begin an intersection safety project in that area. The work will take place Monday through Thursday, from 9:00 AM until 3:00 PM. “We’re installing a new raised median,” she says. “So during those hours, 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, motorists will see crews out there. We’ll have barrels and cones out there, and we’ll be closing the left hand lane. And we’ll be having signage out there to direct motorists of the work we’re doing.”

Felix says the work is expected to continue until mid-October.

MDOT SHA says drivers traveling US 340 westbound can make a left turn on to Valley Road using the through lane.

Felix says motorists are urged to drive with care when traveling through road construction areas. “We always want to remind when they see cones and barrels to please stay alert and focus on your driving habits,:” she says. “You have to look ahead for reduced speed limits as well as other driving patterns. Drive like you work here and slow down in our construction zones.”
