Frederick, Md (KM) The City of Frederick will conduct  a review of its charter. That announcement was made Thursday morning by Mayor Michael O’Connor during his State of the City address.

“My Administration, like every administration, has its own unique opportunity and responsibility to set the course for the future of the City of Frederick.” he said. “But to be a city fully committed to community and dedicated progress, we have to ensure the structure, policy and procedures by which   govern are efficient and up to date.”

The Mayor announced that a charter review committee will be formed for “educating and engaging a robust discussion about our current charter; reviewing language and processes of the current charter to determine revisions and amendments in the City of Frederick’s best interest; and ensuring city government is representative, effective, transparent, responsive and accountable,”: he said.

No date was announced on when the charter review committee will be formed.

Frederick’s charter outlines and describes the city’s current form of government, as well as the operation of its various departments.
