Police Investigate Deadly Crash In Frederick County On I-70

The cause of the accident remains under investigation

(FREDERICK, MD) – Maryland State Police are investigating a fatal two-vehicle crash in which one person died Saturday morning in Frederick County.

At approximately 4:20 a.m., Troopers from the Maryland State Police Frederick Barrack responded to the area of Westbound Interstate 70 at the 62 Mile Marker, for a report of a multi-vehicle crash with injuries.  According to a preliminary investigation, the driver of a 2007 Volkswagen Passat, became disabled and stopped in the roadway in lane three of westbound Interstate 70. The driver was identified as Henry Onamiye, 44, of Gwynn Oak, MD.  The driver exited the vehicle and was standing in front of the vehicle.

A 2000 Ford F450 Utility truck was traveling westbound Interstate 70. The Ford F450 was driven by Carey Carmona, 40, of Delaware City, DE.  The Ford F450 struck the Volkswagen Jetta in Lane three.  The Volkswagen Jetta then struck the driver.  Both vehicles swerved and traveled into the right grass shoulder.  The driver of the Volkswagen was thrown after the impact and also landed on the right grass shoulder.  The driver of the Volkswagen was transported to the hospital via Trooper 3 Medivac with serious injuries.
