Montgomery County Police Arrest Two Men For Carjacking Last Month

Gaithersburg, Md (KM) Two men have been charged with a carjacking in in the 200 block of North Frederick Avenue in Gaithersburg last month. . Darrell Amos Barnes, Jr., 38, of Rockville, and Marcus Antonio Umanzor, 35, of Gaithersburg have been arrested for the robbery which occurred on Monday, December 19th, 2022.

Montgomery County Police say at around 6:45 PM, the driver of a Honda Insight was approached by the two suspects.  One knocked on the window and told the driver to get out. A second suspect opened the driver’s side door and told the victim to get out. One suspect drove the car away, and the second man walked away.

On that day, police spotted Barnes as one of the suspects and took him into custody. He is charged with conspiracy carjacking and resisting arrest. Barnes was given at $10,000 unsecured bond and released.

Umanzor was located on Tuesday, December 27th, 2022 and was also arrested. He is charged with carjacking and conspiracy carjacking. Umazor was given a $5,000 bond, and released after posting ten percent.
