Frederick Mayor Embraces City’s Climate Change Resolution

Frederick, MD – (MO) A Frederick City Board of Alderman meeting on January 19, 2023 had a unanimous vote to adopt a resolution that approved the Climate Emergency Mobilization Work Group’s report.

The resolution emphasizes the need for Frederick City’s government to include discussions on climate change in all decisions moving forward and to address how those decisions will ultimately impact climate change in city.

Mayor Michael O’Conner said his office’s can see a benefit to focusing on climate change and outlined how climate change will effect Frederick City as it continues with community renewal projects in some areas in the city.

Mayor O’Connor said that decisions from a climate change focus would conserve city resources and would be effective in concentrating on density development that avoids the duplication of existing infrastructure as part of these revitalization projects.
