Thurmont, Md (KM) There will be some temporary closures this weekend at Catoctin Mountain Park.

Citing increased security as the reason, the National Park Service says Park Central Road between Thurmont Vista and the Camp Greentop entrance will be closed beginning on Friday, January 27th at 4:00 PM, and continuing through Monday, January 30th at 2:00 PM.  Trails to Hog Rock Overlook and Blue Ridge Summit Vista will also be closed at that time.. All other roads and trails will be open during the weekend..

The Park Service says parking lots at the visitor center will be open, but could fill up early in the day. Additional parking is available on the west side of the park at Camp Round Meadow, Chestnut Picnic Area,  and Owens Creek Picnic Area. Trail maps are available at the trailheads throughout the park.
