Virginia Man Killed In Single-Vehicle Accident In Frederick County

He was flown to Shock Trauma where he later died.

Frederick, Md. (BW)- A Virginia man was killed in a single vehicle accident on Route 340 in Frederick County Monday night.

According to Maryland State Police, at around 7:15 p.m, Scarlett Estep, 60, of Virginia, was driving a GMC truck westbound on 340 by Mt. Zion Road.

For unknown reasons, the truck entered the grass median, came back onto 340 westbound, crossed all lanes of travel, and struck an embankment.

Michael Piermatteo, 57, was the passenger in the truck.

He was flown to Shock Trauma in Baltimore where he later died.

Estep was transported to Frederick Health Hospital for the treatment of her injuries.

Police say this is an ongoing investigation.
