One Man Dead In Frederick Following A Police Shooting

Frederick, Md (KM) Frederick Police say one man is dead following an officer-involved shooting Saturday night.

Chief Jason Lando says at around 6:20 PM, officers responded to an apartment complex in the 1500 block of North East Street to locate an individual wanted for a parole violation. After they knocked on the door, a woman answered, and officers went inside. They located the man inside of a closet.

At some point, Chief Lando says the  man pulled a knife. The officers gave “multiple commands” to drop the knife, but the man did not. Officers  fired shots.

After shots were fired, officers rendered aide, but the man died at the scene.

Chief Lando says the Frederick Police Department has notified the Maryland Attorney’s General’s Office Independent Investigations  Division  about the shooting. Maryland State Police will take over the investigation.
