Frederick County Sheriff’s Deputies Arrest Three On Firearms Offenses

They were apprehended during three different incidents over the past few days.

Frederick, Md (KM) Three men were arrested recently by Frederick County Sheriff’s Deputies on weapons offenses.

Authorities say last Thursday, March 2nd, at 11:05 PM, a deputy took Dashawn Alejandro Pollard ,21, of Frederick into custody following a traffic stop at Walnut Pond Court in Middletown for driving at a high rate of speed. When a deputy approached, Pollard got out of his car, and ran away. He was apprehended following a foot chase. A search of the suspect and the vehicle netted a Glock 19X handgun and magazine, ten rounds of ammunition and several narcotics.

Pollard is charged with:

Controlled Dangerous Substances (CDS) – not cannabis
Handgun in vehicle
Loaded handgun in vehicle
Obstructing and hindering
Resisting/interfering with an arrest
Handgun on person
Loaded handgun on person
Illegal possession of ammunition
Regulated firearm – illegal possession.

In a separate incident last Thursday, Trent Cornelius Thomas,  33, of Frederick was taken into custody after a firearm and marijuana were found in his backpack. The Sheriff’s Office says at around 10:35 PM, deputies responded to the 6700 block of Overton Circle in Frederick for a domestic incident. A caller told dispatchers that a man punched her in the face, and pulled a gun on her.

Arriving deputies saw the suspect flee the area on foot. That began a foot chase. Authorities were able to detain the suspect, and retrieve his backpack which he threw aside during the pursuit. Deputies looked inside the backpack and found a loaded Canik TP9 handgun, and about 83 grams of marijuana.

Thomas is charged with:

Firearm use/felony-violent crime
Firearm possession with/felony conviction
Handgun on person
Loaded handgun on person
Illegal possession of ammunition
Regulated firearm-illegal possession
CDS-possession of firearms
Assault-first degree
Assault-second degree
Failure to obey reasonable/lawful order of a police officer.

And on Monday, March 6th,, Malachi James Witherspoon, 18, of Frederick was taken into custody following at traffic stop at Tennison and Lambert Drives. The Sheriff’s Office says the vehicle was pulled over after the driver failed to stop at a stop sign. After detecting a strong odor of marijuana, the deputy conducted a search of the driver and the vehicle, and found a loaded Polymer 80.9 mml handgun on the driver, and 11.4 grams of marijuana on the driver and in the vehicle.

Witherspoon is charged with:

Possession of a firearm – minor
Loaded handgun in vehicle
Handgun in vehicle
Handgun on person
Loaded handgun on person.

The Sheriff’s Office says all three individuals were taken to the Adult Detention Center to be booked.
