Teenager Arrested For Attempted Armed Carjacking

Frederick Police  say  the youth used a knife.

Frederick, Md (KM) A 14-year-old boy is charged with an attempted carjacking. The youth was arrested Tuesday night.

Frederick Police say officers responded to the area of Peters Lane and North East Street at around 7:35 PM for a report of a robbery. They learned that the teenager had asked the victim for a ride to another location in Frederick city, and the victim agreed. The youth was known to the victim, according to authorities.

When the vehicle arrived at its destination, the 14-year-old produced a knife and told the victim he was taking the keys to the car. The victim refused and the teenager tried to stab the victim before getting out of the car and fleeing. Officers located the youth at a nearby motel, and took him into custody.

He is charged with attempted armed robbery, attempted armed carjacking, attempted motor vehicle theft, 1st- and 2nd-degree assault, attempted theft between $1500 to $2500 and malicious destruction of property under $1,000..

Police say the youth’s name will not be made public because he is a juvenile.

Authorities say there were two other individuals involved in the incident, and citizens who have information on their whereabouts are  asked to contact Frederick Police.
