Fort Detrick, Md (KM) If you work at Fort Detrick or are a visitor, you may notice a lot of activity at the installation this week. . Officials say there will be a full-scale exercise at the post on Wednesday, June 7th. It will evaluate the capabilities when it comes to emergency response and recovery.
There will be an increased first responder presence on post on Wednesday which is part of the exercise. “Ideally, the exercise is designed to stress and evaluate the installation’s planning and response procedures and capabilities with actual response conditions,” says Jeff Arjes, the chief of plans and operations for the Directorate of Operations.
This exercise will allow the installation to identify gaps and work out any identified issues before an actual emergency takes place, according to a news release from Fort Detrick . . In the past, many of these exercises contained scenarios from highway accidents releasing chemicals, . tornadoes and active shooter situations.
