Montgomery County Firefighter Hurt While Assisting In Frederick County Crash

The firefighter was hospitalized for around four hours.

Frederick, Md. (BW)- A Montgomery County firefighter was struck by a passing car while on the scene of an accident in Frederick County on Monday, June 12.

Frederick County Fire and Rescue responded to the 10000 block of Lewisdale Road around 1 p.m. for a vehicle crash.

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services assisted FCFR on the scene.

One firefighter was directing traffic when he was struck by a passing car. He was dragged until the car came to a stop.

The firefighter was transported to a local hospital where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries. At around 5:30 p.m. he was released from the hospital.

The vicitm was wearing protective gear and a high visibility traffic vest while directing traffic.

Law Enforcement are reminding people to move over and/or slow down when seeing an emergency vehicle or hazard lights.
