Nearby businesses asked to evacuate
Hagerstown, Md. (DG) – Interstate 81 southbound in Washington County was shut down for hours after a tanker truck overturned early Monday morning.
Maryland State Police responded to a report of an overturned tanker truck on 81 southbound near Halfway Boulevard shortly before 6:15 AM.
Police quickly learned the truck was carrying ammonium nitrate and shut down I-81 at the accident scene.
Businesses within 1,500 feet of the accident were asked to evacuate.
