Frederick Mayor O’Connor Named President-Elect of MML

He will take over as President next year.

Ocean City, Md (KM) Frederick Mayor Michael O’Connor has been elected   as board president-elect of the Maryland Municipal League. He was voted into that office Tuesday night during the MML’s Annual Conference in Ocean City.

O’Connor will serve in that position from 2023 to 2024. He will be working hand-in-hand with Mayor John Carroll of Galena who will be Board President. . After that, Mayor O-Connor assumes the role of board President for the MML.  His term will be from 2024 to 2025.

“I congratulate outgoing President Denise Mitchell {Acting Mayor of College Park} on her consummate leadership of our organization, and look forward to working hand-in-glove with incoming President John Carroll in the year ahead,” said Mayor O’Connor in a statement. “As municipal leaders, our members bring an understanding of policy that is rooted in their immediate proximity to the issues affecting their constituents’ everyday quality of life. Likewise, they are often on the front lines of implementing solutions from state and county governments. I’ll work tirelessly to make sure their invaluable perspective has a seat at each of these tables.”

The MML board has 32 members from cities and towns across the state. It works to make known the voices of Maryland’s 157 incorporated cities and towns, and two special tax districts. Two-million Marylanders reside in these municipalities.
