Frederick, Md (KM) The Burgess of Woodsboro is running for Congress. Heath Barnes has announced that he’s running for the 6th District Congressional seat as a Republican.
He was elected to serve a five-year term as Burgess in 2021.
Barnes joins five other Republicans who are running for the seat. So far, seven Democrats have entered the race.
This follows Incumbent Representative David Trone’s decision to run for the US Senate in 2024 following Senator Ben Cardin’s announcement that he is retiring. .
The deadline for other candidates to file for 2024 is February 9th.. Primary Election day is May 14th; and the general election is November 5th.
