Frederick City Residents, Businesses, Visitors Asked To Conserve Water

The area is under a drought watch.

Frederick, Md (KM) There are no mandatory water use restrictions in place, but the CIty of Frederick is encouraging residents, businesses owners and visitors to reduce their water usage by between five and 10 percent during the month of August.

The Maryland Department of the Environment last month issued a drought watch for Western Maryland, and that includes Frederick City  and the county   MDE says that means it will increase its oversight of water supplies.

Frederick City  Officials say they too are monitoring water supplies, and will reduce water usage within city government operations where possible under the local Water Conservation and Drought Response Plan.
