He is asking that his firearms be returned to him.
Baltimore, Md (KM) In a court filing, federal prosecutors are suggesting a security detail be arranged for Frederick County Sheriff Chuck Jenkins rather than returning his handguns to him.. Jenkins says he needs his weapons back because he has received threats throughout his time as the county’s top law enforcement officer.
Jenkins and local businessman Robert Krop were indicted in April on federal charges of conspiracy and making false statements in order to illegally obtain machine guns. Both men have pleaded not guilty.
As part of his release, Jenkins was ordered to surrender any firearms in his possession, including his service weapons. Jenkins has requested they be returned to him. US Magistrate Judge Beth Gesner has denied the request. Jenkins is appealing that decision.
