Frederick, Md (KM) A community meeting of Frederick County’s Data Centers Workgroup will be held next week. It’s scheduled for Wednesday, August 30th at 6:00 PM at the Carroll Manor Elementary School cafeteria, 5624 Adamstown Road. .
The panel will hear from residents and grassroots organizations. Individuals who want to speak can sign up on line at FrederickCountyMD.gov/DataCenterComments, or in person at the meeting.
The Workgroup will also hold other meetings on September 27th to learn about other jurisdictions’ experiences with data centers. There will also be a meeting on October 18th to learn about quality of life and community benefits. The Workgroup will also meet on November 15th to learn about the economic impact and the industry’s perspectives..
Locations are still to be determined, but all meetings will begin at 6:00 PM.
County Executive Jessica Fitzwater established the Workgroup to consider appropriate locations for data centers; taxation of data centers; water, power, and other infrastructure needs of data centers; community benefits which can be derived from data centers; and potential amendments to the County’s critical digital infrastructure.
It’s scheduled to release its final report by January 5th, 2024.
