Frederick Police Ask For Public Assistance To Solve Cold Case

It was a fatal hit and run from almost four years ago.

Frederick, Md (KM) The public’s assistance is needed by the Frederick Police as they try to solve a cold case, a  fatal hit and run from almost four years ago.

Authorities say on December 18th, 2019, officers received a call about a injured person on the unit block of Hillcrest Drive. Richard Shelton, 58 of Frederick had been struck by a car. Despite the best efforts of a bystander to administer CPR, Shelton was pronounced dead after being transported to the hospital. .

Officers believe the suspect vehicle is a red or maroon colored GM van which may have some damage to the front, right quarter panel, or passenger door.

Police say they’ve pursued a number of leads without any success, and are now reaching out to the community. Investigators say any detail, no matter how insignificant it may seem, could be the key to solving this case, and bringing closure to Mr. Shelton’s family.
