Frederick Police Continue To Investigate Last Week’s Fatal Pedestrian Crash

They say a garbage truck struck  a man in a wheelchair.

Frederick, Md KM) Frederick Police continue their investigation into a fatal pedestrian crash Thursday morning of last week. .

The Crash Reconstruction Team says its preliminary findings show that a garbage truck with BFI Waste Services in Hagerstown was leaving a shopping center in the 1200 block of West Patrick Street. The driver was making a right turn on to eastbound West Patrick Street when the truck struck a pedestrian who was using a wheelchair trying to cross the street near the shopping center entrance. .

Medics were dispatched to the scene and performed life saving measures, but the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.   He identified as an adult male.

Police say the driver remained on the scene and cooperated with investigators.

The incident remains under investigation, and authorities are asking anyone who has information but has  not spoken with investigators to contact Officer Coady with the Frederick Police at 240-549-4542.
