Accident In Carroll County Kills 4

Victims all from New Windsor, MD

WESTMINSTER, MD) – Maryland State Police are investigating a fatal crash, where four people died, Saturday evening in Carroll County.

The deceased is identified as Charles Black III, 72, of New Windsor, Maryland. He was the driver of a Chevy Equinox involved in the crash. Two passengers in the Chevy were also pronounced deceased at the scene. They are identified as Barbara Black, 69 and Debbie Hill, 63, also of New Windsor, Maryland. Additional passengers in the Chevy, Gage Black, 17, and Phillip Ceresa, 15, both of New Windsor, were flown to R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, Maryland for treatment of their injuries. Gage Black was later pronounced deceased at Shock Trauma.

The driver of a Ford F-350 involved in the crash, identified as Jeffrey Burdette, 59, of Mt. Airy, Maryland was transported by ambulance to Carroll Hospital in Westminster for treatment of his injuries.

Shortly before 5:30 p.m., troopers from the Maryland State Police Westminster Barrack responded to the area of westbound Liberty Road at Skidmore Road for the report of a three-vehicle crash. According to a preliminary investigation, the Chevy, traveling westbound on Liberty Road, stopped and attempted to make a left turn onto Skidmore Road when a Saturn, operated by Austin Walker, 25, of Westminster, crashed into the rear of the Chevy. The impact of the crash caused the Chevy to enter into the eastbound lanes of Liberty Road, where it was struck by the Ford, that was traveling eastbound on Liberty Road. Investigators do not believe that impaired driving was a factor in this crash.

The Maryland State Police Crash Team are leading the investigation. This crash remains under investigation.
