Westbound Traffic will be alternated while work is underway.

Baltimore, Md (KM) For motorists who regularly use the US 340 bridge over the Potomac River, here’s a heads up. The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration says repair work is expected to begin on Monday, February 12th on the eastbound lane  of the bridge..

This work will include repairs to the bridge infrastructure which are  the metal members that  support the bridge deck.

As a result of this work, , MDOT SHA says there will be a flagging operation to alternate traffic using the westbound side of the bridge. Drivers should also expect a brief, 15-minute closure of the bridge as part of the repairs.

The contractor for the project, Harbel, Inc., of Cumberland, will use cones, barrels and flaggers to guide motorists through the work zone. Motorists are encouraged to slow down and pay strict attention when driving through work zones.

The work will take place from 9:00 AM until 3:00 PM,. Monday through Friday.

MDOT SHA says work is expected to be completed by Friday, February 16th, weather permitting.

While this bridge work is going on, CSX says it will be doing some track repair in Washington County at the Virginia state line.
