The majority of the cost will be funded by a private entity.
Frederick, Md. (BW)- The proposed Downtown Frederick Hotel and Conference Center is expected to cost around $9 million to complete.
Frederick Mayor Michael O’Connor said on W-F-M-D’s Morning News Express on Tuesday, Jan 23, that Plamondon Hospitality Partners will likely pay $70-$75 million of the total cost.
Maryland Governor Wes Moore allocated $7.5 million to the project in his proposed fiscal year 2025 budget.
The city of Frederick and Frederick County will fund the remainder of the project.
O’Connor said over time, the hotel and conference center will generate revenue for the local and state economies.
The hotel and conference center is proposed to be built on the site of the former Frederick News Post building located between East Patrick Street and Carroll Creek Park.
The building will have 207 rooms and 21,000 square feet of meeting space and parking.
There is no timeline yet for the completion of this project.
