Sewage Overflow In Frederick Affects Several Waterways

The sewage overflow came from Mount Saint Mary’s University

Frederick, Md. (BW)- The Frederick County Health Department is warning residents to stay away from certain waterways in Frederick.

A sewage overflow ocurred on the campus of Mount Saint Mary’s University and has affected waters from Saint Mary Run to Toms Creek to the Monocacy River.

The Health Department said in a press release Thursday, Feb 15, “If a resident comes in contact with the affected water, they should wash thoroughly with soap and warm water, especially before eating.”

They added, pet owners should keep their animals away from the water.

Boating and fishing is still safe.
