The victim was bitten in the face.
Frederick, Md (KM) The Frederick County Health Department is searching for a dog which bit a man on the face last weekend.
The incident occurred on Saturday afternoon, February 17th, 2024, at 5:00 along Emerson Drive in the Whittier community. The unknown dog ran over to the victim’s dog. As the man was leaning over to pick up his dog, the unknown dog bit him on the face.
It’s described as a very large, tan and white Great Dane-type dog which was not on a leash and unaccompanied at that time.
The Health Department says it needs to know the animal’s health and whereabouts. It will have to undergo quarantine for ten days to monitor its health. That can take place inside the owner’s home. If it’s verified to be in good health, the dog will be allowed to resume its normal activities, and the victim can avoid post-exposure rabies vaccinations.
The owner of the biting dog, or anyone who has information on the dog and its owner, is asked to contact the Frederick County Animal Control at 301-600-1544.
Anyone who has been bitten or scratched by a dog or cat is asked to obtain contract information about the animal’s owner so that appropriate action can be taken, the Health Department says. Also, report any bites to Animal Control at 301-600-1544. Citizens should report any human exposure to Community Health Services at 301-600-3342.
