Montgomery County Police Identify Suspect Through Hand Print

He’s charged with burglary offenses.

Gaithersburg, Md (KM) Montgomery County Police say they were able to identify and arrest a suspect through  a hand print. Mukhtar Ali Mohammad, 27, of Silver Spring, is charged with attempted 2nd-degree burglary, and 2nd-degree burglary.

At 3:10 AM on November 17th, 2023. an individual tried to break into the Montgomery County Liquor store in  the   11400 block of Georgia Avenue in Wheaton.   He left the scene after attempting to break the glass door with a rock. .

Just after 4:00 AM on November 17th, the same person forced his way into a Cricket Wireless store in the 11300 block of Georgia Avenue, and stole some merchandise before leaving.

The Police Department’s Violence Crime Information Center identified Muhammad as the suspect for breaking into the liquor store after viewing footage from the liquor store robbery. and shared this information with detectives. . Mohammad had touched the glass door of the establishment with his right hand when trying to break in..

Detectives obtained prints from the glass door which came back positive for Mohammad on January 26th, 2024 .

Police obtained an arrest warrant for  Mohammad who is currently being held in Washington DC on unrelated charges.
