Juvenile Charged With Murder In Brunswick Indicted On Friday By Frederick County Grand Jury

He is one of four defendants indicted by the panel.

Frederick, Md (KM) A Brunswick teenager charged as an adult is one of four defendants indicted on Friday by the Frederick County Grand Jury. Juwaun Terry Stewart, 17, is charged with 1st-degree murder, 1st-degree rape and two counts of 1st -degree assault   He’s also charged with robbery, home invasion, 1st degree burglary and theft between $1500 to $25,000.

Stewart was arrested on Wednesday, March 13th, 2024 for the murder of Tammy Sue Coates, 61, of Brunswick She was found deceased in her home on January 22nd, 2024 by her daughter.

Police were called to the scene, and considered Coates’ death suspicious. Her body was taken to the State Medical Examiner’s Office which ruled the death a homicide. Authorities says Coates had multiple injuries on her body, and she was raped.

The other defendants indicted by the Frederick County Grand Jury are:

*Ty’sheem Amor Francis, 32, of Hagerstown, Md, who is charged with 2nd-degree rape, 3rd-degree sex offense, 2nd-degree assault and 4th-degree sex offense for an offense which occurred on January 5th, 2024.

Indicted as co-defendants are:

*Terry Whorton, 39, of Cumberland, Md, who is charged with possession of a large amount of fentanyl; possession with intend to distribute a drug and fentanyl mixture; possession with intend to distribute fentanyl; conspiracy to possess a large amount of fentanyl; conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute fentanyl; possession of fentanyl; and possession of cocaine. for an offense which occurred on January 12th, 2024.

*Ashlee Nicole Whorton, 24, of Cumberland, Md., who is charged with possession with intent to distribute and possession of fentanyl; possession of cocaine; possession of paraphernalia; possession of a large amount of fentanyl; possession of a drug and fentanyl mixture; conspiracy to possess a large amount of fentanyl; and conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute fentanyl for an offense  which occurred on January 12th, 2024. (The charges against Ashlee Nichole Whorton are  described as a superceding indictment)

These indictments move these cases to the Circuit Court where trial dates will be scheduled.

The Frederick County State’s Attorney’s Office says indictments are charging documents alleging criminal conduct, and all defendants are innocent until proven guilty.
