One Person Taken To The Hospital Following An Apartment Fire In Boonsboro

The damage estimate totals $250,000.

Boonsboro, Md (KM) Fire damaged an apartment building in Boonsboro Friday morning.

Shortly after 6:00 AM, fire fighters were dispatched to 28 South Main Street for the blaze which went to a second alarm. It took 50 fire fighters 25 minutes to bring the flames under control.

The occupant of the apartment where the fire originated was taken to Meritus Medical Center for treatment. Two fire fighters were also injured, but they were treated at the scene.

The Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office says damage is estimated at $150,000 to the structure, and $100,000 to the contents. .

The fire originated in a downstairs apartment. The cause remains under investigation.

The Fire Marshal’s Office says the property was two-story dwelling converted into a five-unit apartment building.  A total of six people lived in the building, and are being assisted by the Red Cross.
