Two Women Arrested In Frederick For Shoplifting

Police say they found evidence of stolen merchandise in the suspects’ vehicle.

Frederick, Md (KM) Frederick Police have arrested two women in connection with shoplifting along East Patrick Street.. Mirela Sardaru, 32, of Orange, California, and Melinsa Stefan, 21, who is living in Baltimore, are both charged with theft between $100 and under $1,500; theft less than $100; conspiracy to commit theft from $100 to under $1,500; and conspiracy to commit theft under $100.

Authorities say on Wednesday at around 6:05 PM, they responded to a reported theft in the unit block of East Patrick Street.  A caller reported shoplifters moving between the stores, in downtown Frederick. They were seen traveling northbound on North Market Street.

Police say the descriptions provided by witnesses matched that of two woman involved in an earlier theft in that area.

Officers patrolling the area of North Market and East Church Streets observed the two in a vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. They searched the vehicle, and found evidence of stolen merchandise.

Sarbaru and Stefan were taken to the Frederick County Adult Detention Center.

Both women went before a District Court Judge on Thursday. and were released on $2,500 unsecured bond.
