Six people arrested, quantities of narcotics, cash, loaded handgun confiscated

Frederick, Md (KM) Frederick Police and other law enforcement agencies recently took down a drug trafficking operation in Frederick County, and made six arrests.
Spokeswoman Samantha Long with the Frederick Police says the Department’s Tactical Investigation Unit began an investigation last year into William Joseph Jones, Jr., of Woodsboro, who authorities say was the leader of this organization. With the approval of State’s Attorney Charlie Smith, a wiretap investigation began targeting Jones.
“They were issued search warrants for four different locations in Frederick as well as a location in West Virginia,”‘ says Long.
The search warrants were served on March 28th, and police located 1,175.5 grams of suspected fentanyl; 230.7 grams of suspected of cocaine; 219 bindles of suspected fentanyl and crack cocaine; 140 bottles of methadone; 26 Oxycodone pills; $66,492.10 in currency; and a .25 caliber loaded handgun.
Police say the seized contraband has an estimated street value exceeding $100,000.
“From there, we have arrested six individuals, key individuals from this operation with the ringleader being William Joseph Jones, Jr,” says Long.

“All six individuals were taken into custody,” says Long. “Jessica Toms as well as Karen Jones have been released on their own personal recognizance while the other four remain without bond.”
Long says this operation was a coordinated effort between the Frederick Police Department, the State’s Attorney’s Office, the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office, Maryland State Police, Brunswick Police Department, and the US Department of Homeland Security Investigations.
